    About Carolyn Oates

Carolyn's skill as a multi-instrumentalist has given her opportunities to perform in a variety of genre's and settings. Over 20+ years she has worked as a touring musician and solo artist. Working in the UK, Europe, US, Singapore and Australia.

This experience has created a background as a working musician. She's backed up some of Australia's finest - from Paul Kelly, Vika and Linda Bull to Clare Bowditch.

Oates has endorsements with Australian guitar maker Maton, and Australian cymbal company Red Cymbals.

She is currently working as the drummer for the contemporary blues artist Anna Scionti, and performing solo shows. Along with regular session work and live playing for various artists.

Watching Carolyn Oates perform solo is like a stroll through guitar inventiveness.

She takes familiar elements and transforms them with her unique guitar voicings. If Suzanne Vega and Paul Simon had a musical child, it would sound like this.

    Vicki Gordon (NA2R)

"Beautiful...(there's) meaning in the lyrics, that makes you think."

    Leipziger Volkszeitung, Germany

"Marvellously mellow acoustic pop is what Australian songwriter Carolyn Oates brings today. She connects beautiful guitar themes with dreamlike melodies to lyrics with substance."
